Kulcha – new art exhibitions, some marvelous architecture, and a lecture

Friday March 29th 2019 – starting and ending with Sir Hans Sloane – Part 1

First stop, Sloane Square……

Great statue of Sir Hans Sloane in the morning sunshine, one of the founders of the British Museum where I will be ending the day. His house over near Holborn is a wonderful jumble of a place, stuffed full of art, architecture and “stuff”. But most of his collection he bequeathed to the nation in his will and it became the founding collection of the British Museum, and later also of the Natural History Museum. I’m a big fan of both places, and therefore by extension, of Sir Hans!

Although I have been here before, to see the impressive Rolling Stones exhibition in 2016, this is the first time I’ve come specifically to see a modern art show.

SAATCHI GALLERY – Kaleidoscope

Laura Buckley’s interactive large-scale kaleidoscope Fata Morgana. The immersive piece will be making its first major public appearance as a part of the exhibition. Dazzling and disorienting, Buckley’s hexagonal walk-in installation invites the audience to be absorbed into the work through its mirrored walls, changing imagery and audio
